Art Teachers Wanted!

The California City Arts Commission is seeking artists willing to teach classes based on their personal requirements and preferences,  in all media.  As a part of the Parks and Recreation Department, the CCAC not only wants to offer the classes in the City’s facilities, but also to continue our outreach into the community to develop new avenues of opportunity for our citizens.

Per Helen Dennis, coordinator for the CCAC’s annual art show, “There have been many successful classes offered in the past in watercolor, gourd painting and artisan crafts, but nothing recently, a situation we hope to correct this coming year.”  The Arts Commission is hoping to have local artists contact the organization, who would be willing to teach adult classes in the medium of their expertise, such as oil painting, drawing, watercolor techniques, and others.  The class size and the fee for the class would be up to the instructor, with the approval of the Arts Commission.  Initially the hope would be that classes could be taught on Saturdays, but that could change depending on the response received from those interested in teaching.  The classes would be for the benefit of the public, to offer learning experiences in non-critical surroundings.  Classes would range from beginners to long-time artists who want to learn something new.

For more information or to offer to teach a class, contact Shelly Hornback, Parks and Recreation Supervisor, at (760) 559-5768, or Helen Dennis, (760) 373-4570.
